Golden Girls

The 67th Golden Globe awards presented an opportunity for stars to poke fun of NBC, raise a glass to host Ricky Gervais, show off their charitable sides and dazzle in stunning couture concoctions.

Award season is a stylist's best dream and worst nightmare. With the pressure on to find a unique, flattering and show-stopping previously unworn designer gown, stylists flock to mecca design-houses. Last night's designers of choice include Oscar de la Renta (Lea Michele), Gucci (Olivia Wilde), Dolce and Gabbana (Emily Blunt), Versace (Jennifer Garner) and Atelier Yves Saint Laurent (Kate Winslet). While Hollywood's leading ladies looking stunning, few of the choices spoke to me. Jennifer Aniston played it safe in basic black, albeit with a thigh-high slit, and Cameron Diaz stuck to her go-to LRD (little red dress).

The House star showed off her wild side in a plunging, metallic beaded Gucci gown. Showing off her charitable side, Olivia Wilde revealed that on the red carpet that her gown is being auctioned off to benefit Haiti.

Rachel Zoe earned her stars as Hollywood's go-to stylist for dressing Jennifer Garner in this sparkling nude Versace number. The dress accentuated Jen's envious post-baby curves and created the perfect  sweet yet sultry look.

Last year's best actress winner, Kate Winslet, looked drop-dead gorgeous in this black number. The dress played up Winslet's enviable real-woman figure while the one-shoulder and sparkles added a much-needed A-List oomph.

Glee's breakout star, Lea Michele, looked ravishing in this Oscar de la Renta creation. She seemed to float down the red carpet and looked beyond elegant while accepting the award for best television series. You made gleeks everywhere proud, Lea!

There was something about Emily Blunt's dress that spoke to me. The Dolce and Gabbana achieved an sweet yet edgy look with the pale pink color and the distressed fabric. Emily looked fit and fabulous, perhaps in preparation for her upcoming nuptials to fiance John Krasinski?

The evening's shining star was True Blood actress Anna Pacquin. On the arms of her dapper fiance and costar Stephen Moyer, the starlet was dazzling in her gold gown. The color perfectly highlighted her California blond tresses and made her skin glow. Utter perfection.
