The Times Slams Dexter Star

Apparently the New York Times is behind on their celebrity news and failed to do their homework before publishing a rather insensitive tweet.

During the Golden Globes, the Time's Moment was tweeting about Dexter's Michael C. Hall, who has been battling cancer. The blogger obviously failed celebrity reporting 101, never poke fun at star's health, as his tweet was unnecessary and completely insensitive:
Is Michael C. Hall playing Bob Marley in an upcoming movie? Don't get the hat or what he is hiding under it.
It is safe to assume that the "reporter" got bombarded with an overwhelming response from followers, as an apology was issued in the next tweet.
So sorry that Michael C. Hall has had cancer. Thanks for clarifying why he is wearing a knitted skull cap.
The NYT should be ashamed of themselves. While it is their job to cover celebrity events, they should ensure that they have proper backgrounds on all stars prior to tweeting about them. I'm surprised this story has not gotten more attention, but thankfully for NYT, they will be avoiding a PR nightmare.

Hall is not letting this debacle rain on his parade. In addition to celebrating his remission, he is also celebrating his Golden Globe award for best actor in a television series. Mazel Tov!

* Michael C. Hall made an announcement on January 13, 2010 that he is undergoing treatment for cancer and the disease is in remission. Hall was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, which is considered highly treatable with potential for a full recovery. His rep says that Hall's cancer is in complete remission and treatment will carry on as planned.
