In an apparent effort to bridge the gap between pop and rap, Hanson and Drake were set to perform a free concert on Tuesday in New York City. Unfortunately for the mismatched crowd, the show was abruptly
canceled after twice as many people as anticipated showed up. Police were brought in to calm down the nearly 20,000
Mmmbop and
Thank Me Later fans, and concert organizer Paper magazine was left to apologize.
The concert was part of the "Sounds Like Paper" series presented by the arts, culture and music magazine. After a website promise to "make it up to you guys," fans can only hope that their respective idols return to the free stage soon. Maybe next time Hanson and Drake fans will be able to jam to
Penny and Me and provide the beats to
Over in harmony.
