2011's Emerging Artists

Following up on my favourite albums of 2010; here are some emerging acts I am looking forward to in the new year. Maybe you should too. And don't forget to check out the music on my blog

James Blake
After Releasing 2 acclaimed EPs in 2010, his upcoming debut release is highly anticipated. Soulful and minimal, this dubstep artist knows how to manipulate sounds to create visceral tracks that play on our senses.

Tennis
After rediscovering their love for creating music on a boating trip, the young married couple began to write and play songs that allowed reflection on their experiences offshore. It’s terribly easy to let these joyous 60’s pop revival tracks wash over you.

Jamie Woon
Unmanipulated and clean, Woon has a voice that soars. It also helps that he has the amazingly talented dubstep producer ‘Burial’ in his back pocket. His debut is one to look forward to.

Memoryhouse
Hailing from Guelph, Ontario this shoegazing ‘bedroom’ pop act has created some dreamy songs that are the perfect addition to any sleep playlist.

Cults
After self releasing 3 songs last year Cults were quickly snatched up and weeks later their music was featured in Weeds. Take a listen.
