Cirque du Soleil TOTEM

Mesmerizing. Breathtaking. Magical. Enchanting. Astonishing. Magnificent. Moving. Overwhelming. Thrilling. Inspiring. Alluring. Captivating. Enthralling. Fascinating. Spellbinding.

There aren't enough adjectives to describe the wonder that is Cirque du Soleil TOTEM. I received an invitation to the private preview of the show a couple of weeks ago and was brimming with excitement ever since. I'm a big Cirque fan, having been to shows in Toronto when I was younger and most recently in Las Vegas. Cirque du Soleil O was my gold standard, but TOTEM knocked O off its pedestal.

Held under the Grand Chapiteau, TOTEM traces the journey of the human species from its amphibian state to its ultimate desire to fly. Through acrobatics and visuals, TOTEM illustrates the evolutionary progress of species. We all know I'm a sucker for anthropology and evolution, but TOTEM takes science and legend to a whole new level. With stunning visuals and insane acrobatic acts, it's impossible to to take your eyes off the show.

The TOTEM performers put on the show of their lives last night. Almost every act received a standing ovation and the crowds went wild for the abs, flips, balancing, juggling, bar dancing and hoops. The acts were literally out of this world. I'm still not sure how anyone discovers they have the talent to juggle fabric on their foot, balance a 20-foot poll and a man on their head or monocycle while catching and balancing bowls on their head, but Cirque du Soleil sure managed to find, and train, these people. The dedication that goes into every act is extraordinary and the performers deserve to be celebrated.

Last night's premiere was truly an A-List event. From the champagne flutes to the mini cupcakes and the bamboo sticks to the chocolate squares, TOTEM screamed decadence and wonder. Media and Toronto's elite were the guests of honor last night, and I'm thrilled to have been included in such an amazing night.

  1. The themes are found in metaphors and relationships, but are located fluidly adequate to allow the audience to enjoy the display that is the hallmark of the company.

  2. Tickets usually sell out fast, therefore make sure you know where to go when booking Vienna opera tickets for 'Die Fledermaus'. .... There are several New Year's Eve parties going on in Vienna every year, among them the Cirque Rouge , Volksgarten and Cafe Leopold parties which are my favourites. las vegas magic shows
